Alone this Valentine’s Day?

Alone this Valentine’s Day?

Don’t sweat it. There are always such high expectations to have a date every February 14th, but hey, a girl’s gotta live her life, and sometimes that means without a guy by her side. So this Valentine’s, HerCampus Haverford has some ideas for how to spend the day loving you, no boys allowed.

Splurge on Dinner for One

Whatever it is you’re feeling: a huge burrito from Chipotle, a Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s, Thai take-out, or a juicy burger, go out and get it! If you have the facilities to cook for yourself, splurge on some super decadent and fresh ingredients and make yourself something you’ve always wanted to try. The pleasure of the treat, no matter where it comes from, will stick with you throughout the night. Play some nice music, change out of your sweats, and sit down to a lovely meal with a good book or some TV for a night that’s all about you.

Dinner Party!

Throw a party for you and all your friends! Each person can bring a snack or a dish, a few bottles of wine, and, most importantly, chocolate. Put on some dresses, a cheesy chick flick, and celebrate all the awesome things girls can do together that boys never want to be around for.

Your Family Counts Too

Valentine’s Day doesn’t only have to be about coupling up. I personally love getting cards and chocolate from my parents, no matter what my romantic situation is like.  And while I’m making sure to see the BF this Valentine’s Day, I’m making a quick popover to the parents’ too.  If you can’t stop home for a tasty meal and a night of bad movies with the rents, make sure to give them a call and maybe send them some chocolate of your own. You’ll be happy you did and be spreading the love.

Don’t be afraid to feel the love by yourself this Valentine’s Day. We all know it’s a Hallmark holiday anyway, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a blast making the day special in a new way. Happy Valentines to all!
