Recreate Your Favorite Restaurant Meals in the Dining Hall!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Harvard chapter.

With so many food establishments to choose from, it’s easy to drop money on meals and snacks, especially when you’re craving a dish that your favorite place makes so well. But you’re in luck – HC Harvard is here to show you how to recreate some of those meals in your very own d-hall. Prepare to be amazed.

Al’s Subs: Chicken Pesto Sub Sundays only
Start with a loaf of nice bread that’s available on Sundays in the dining hall. Cut off as much as you want for your sandwich and then slice that piece down the middle so you can fill it. Take a small amount of pesto (also available only on Sundays, from the pasta station) and spread it on the slices of bread. Then layer sliced mozzarella cheese from the sandwich bar on top of the pesto. Get a piece (or two) of grilled chicken from the grill and put that in the sandwich as well. Place your sandwich into the sandwich press and let it sit until the cheese has melted.

Boloco: Goloco Burrito Bowl
Now, as with any burrito bowl this recipe really depends on what you want to include, but here are a few ideas!
Start with brown rice in a bowl. Add black beans from the salad bar – it’s okay that they’re cold because you will microwave the dish later. Add shredded cheese (salad bar), shredded lettuce (sandwich bar), and whatever other veggies you want. Broccoli works really well in this dish, as does corn. Add salsa, usually available near the salad dressing, and microwave the whole dish for 30 to 45 seconds.

JP Licks: Creative Ice Cream Flavors

Since the vanilla and chocolate froyo in the d-hall can get boring quickly, here are some ways to mix it up and make a more interesting flavor, similar to the creative offerings they have at JP Licks.
-Add powdered ginger or cinnamon to your vanilla froyo
-Pour 1-3 spoonfuls of coffee on top of your chocolate froyo for a mocha treat
-Make an ice cream cookie sandwich with two dessert cookies
-Crush peppermints with the bottom of a spoon to make a new sundae topping, or mix them into vanilla or chocolate froyo to give it a new flavor
