Jordan Peele came out with his new horror movie US starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke last week. Peele’s movie generated $70 million during the opening weekend making it the largest weekend ever for an original horror movie. Before US, Peele’s debut onto the Hollywood movie front was with the movie Get Out. Many people raved over Get Out because of its underlying meaning about white and black culture in America. Now, US has even more fans speculating the meaning behind the movie. If you haven’t seen the movie yet beware because there will be a few spoilers since there are some things I need to get off my chest.

1. Does Everyone In America Have A Tethered?

While the movie is ending, you see multiple people in red, above ground, holding hands around America. So I’m assuming everyone in America has a tethered and now they’re all free?? Supposedly that last scene is related to the Hands Across America campaign that took place in 1986. The USA organization came up with this idea for Africa. It was meant to raise approximately  $100 million to fight homelessness and hunger by having six million people pledge $10 or more to participate and form a coast-to-coast human chain, holding hands from New York to Long Beach, CA. I guess, the tethered finally accomplished whatever it was they needed to.

2. What Do The Rabbits Symbolize?

In the movie, Red mentioned how she had to eat the rabbits while underground. Earlier on in the movie, Zora (Adelaide’s daughter) is seen wearing a shirt with a rabbit on it. Maybe the rabbits were the first test subjects of the government experience but it didn’t turn out well?

3. What Is With The Look Jason Gave Adelaide In The Ambulance Truck at the End ??!!

Ok, I know y’all saw the way that Jason and Adelaide were looking at each other at the end of the movie. When I first saw him staring at her, I thought it was his tethered and that somehow they switched places. But then, after scrolling down my feed on Twitter, it made way more sense that Jason knew Adelaide was Reds tethered this whole time.

4. Do Their Outfits Symbolize Something?

All the tethered people wear red jumpsuits, one glove, and have scissors. Their outfits kind of look like prison uniforms relating to the fact that they were apart of the government experiment. The scissors and the glove still have me confused as to what they could possibly mean.

All in all, this movie was very interesting and I feel like I need to see it for a second time because I’m sure I missed a lot of different signs. Jordan Peele does it again with this movie.
