POV: It’s 100 Days at Hampton and you’re a Senior

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

It’s about that time! If you go to Hampton, you know we have many traditions and “Hampton Holidays.” One of the most cherished ‘holidays’ is 100 Days, the school-wide celebration of the 100 day countdown until the seniors graduate. At Hampton, 100 Days is the definition of “bus, club, another club, another club, plane, no sleep…” The goal is to party from sun up to sun down. No matter what year you are, 100 Days at Hampton will always end in a good story.

As I look back on my past 100 Days as a Hamptonian, I have so many memories that will always have a special place in my heart, but my senior year 100 Days just hits a little differently. When you’re an underclassmen, 100 Days is just an excuse to skip class and celebrate all day. This 100 Days is somewhat bittersweet for me. It’s not only my last chance to make this the most memorable 100 Days yet, but it also means that I have exactly 100 days to figure out what I’m doing with my life post-grad. Entering the real world after college can be such a scary thought, especially if you’re like me and usually have every detail of your life planned to a tee. The uncertainty of life after graduation is admittingly scary.

In addition to preparing for what the day has in store, I am going to take time to reflect on my last four years at Hampton and the lessons I’ve learned and what more I want to accomplish in my senior year. This incredible milestone of my last 100 Days is making me realize how fast these four years really go by. The expression “life comes fast” is an understatement. These past four years at Hampton have taught me to work hard and play hard, and this Hampton holiday is the epitome of that.

Being able to celebrate this day as a senior shows how far I’ve come, and how much further I have to go as well. This is the time for me to take a deep breath and think about everything I’ve accomplished since coming to Hampton. It is also the time for me to reflect on what I could have done differently in my underclassmen years.

It becomes very easy to take all of these fun memories you make in college for granted. Senior year is really your last everything. As I come upon this day of celebration and realization, I am determined to make these next 100 days until graduation count.
