Happening at Hampton

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

Hampton University has kicked off this 2016-2017 school year with tons of events, and as a fellow Hamptonian I want to make sure you all are in the “know.” Aside from the Lit Holland’s and 12-2’s there are some very important events creeping up on us up this month that you cannot miss!

Onyx11, come out and support the freshman candidates this Sunday, September 11th, for Class Election Speeches.  Class officers are essentially the liaisons for the rest of your class. They set the tone for your school year and are your voice on HU’s campus.  This event will be taking place in Ogden Hall at 5pm sharp. Voting will be that Friday, the 16th, at 8am in the Student Cyber Lounge.

Don’t miss one of Hampton’s much anticipated annual events this fall; the Career Fair. HU students will have the opportunity to meet many large corporations from all over the country, which could in turn lead to possible job opportunities. Dress to impress, business professional required. This event will be held in the Convocation Center, Wednesday, September 28th from 10am-3pm.

Hampton University currently has over 110 student organizations, which makes HU’s campus that much more diverse. Receive further information on how you could possibly join one of Hampton’s many organizations during 12-2, Friday, September 30th.

The annual Miss Hampton Scholarship Pageant will also take place that Friday. Miss Hampton is a tradition that has been present on this campus for over 20 years. Come out and support the lovely contestants as they grace the stage with talent and beauty…But only one will take the crown. This event will be held in Ogden Hall at 7pm.

Stay tuned for more information on Hampton’s upcoming events this year!
