Lets face it, sometimes the cafe sucks. Eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the cafe will drive just about anyone insane. Some people decide to order out, but after a while, eating out definitely can get expensive. Here are a few quick, money saving, and healthier options to better your dining experience.

If you are in a rush a good idea for quick breakfast is to grab a parfait. Take a few scoops of yogurt and then top it with your choice of power foods like: granola, fruit, or Craisins.

For those who are health conscious or simply want variety, the upstairs area offers healthy options such as whole grain pasta. They even have a panini maker.

Think detoxing while on a meal plan is impossible? Think again.  Creating detox water is achievable.  Simply add items that are readily available in the café such as lemons, cucumbers, or fruit to your water, and your detox water is complete.

Granted detox water and parfaits aren’t for everyone.  There are a few traditional items you can never go wrong with: a loaded salad or grilled cheese and tomato soup.

I’m sure you have gone to the cafe a few times and saw absolutely nothing you wanted to eat. Well you have to eat, so now it’s time to improvise. One word…Nachos! The cafe offers tortilla chips, cheese, lettuce, and a variety of dips to choose from to create the perfect nachos bowl. If you get lucky, sometimes the cafe has rotisserie chicken that you can pull a part and sprinkle on your nachos to make the meal very filling.

Finally, if the café just won’t do it, remember every meal plan comes with dollars that can be used at Chick-Fil-A, Pirates Grille, or Planet Smoothie in the student center.  Whenever you are stuck for dining options remember these few tips.
