It can be hard to support a chronic gym habit without breaking the bank. After all, gym clothes can be super expensive for high quality brands, so what’s meant to go in a gym bum’s stocking?
Sweat towels
Sure, it’s not too glamorous, but it’s a luxury that a lot of gym goers don’t have for themselves, but whether it replaces a borrowed, rough gym towel or is something they don’t even use yet, it can be a game changer for a gym routine!
Amazon has a set of three from Dwelling Place that have some fun colored accent reading “Sweat” so your receiver knows exactly why you gave them a towel. Plus, the fabric is super soft and gentle on the face when mopping sweat away. This particular set of three is a bit on the spendier side for a towel at $15, but they are really lovely and could be split across two or three health-focused friends.
Socks
As a kid, socks were the bane of the stocking, but now they are sometimes a lovely, needed gift and getting a nice pair can be a luxury in of itself! Snag a nice, athletic pair of socks to replace those stinky ones rolling around in their gym bag!
Personally, the Calvin Klein performance grip liner socks were a lifesaver when I started hitting the gym daily. The back protects from any chafing, but the front dips low enough to not show too much. For a pack of two, these will cost $12, but it’s a little luxury that is sure to impress.
Body Wipes
Usually, non-essentials don’t end up on the budget and being fresh after the gym isn’t a requirement; however, on the days when I want to run from the gym straight to errands before sneaking in a shower, being able to wipe away some of the stink first can be a real confidence booster. Plus, it’s basically a gift to all of society.
Pacifica makes some fresh-smelling deodorant wipes that are great for underarms and give a little extra boost in blocking the sweat that keeps coming during the cooldown afterwards. Otherwise, for a general skin wipe, Every Man Jack has a speed shower that provides some buffer before the real thing.
Jump Rope
This one might be a no-go if they’ve already got one, but a lot of fitness junkies don’t think to snag this easy, awesome cardio booster. Plus, getting a decent one can be as cheap as $10. Amazon is slinging a Survival and Cross one that I’ve personally been using for a few months and it’s got a good snap. It’s a fun thing to have in the gym bag to break up lift days or for machine-free workouts when traveling.
If they don’t have one, this can be a great way to expand their routine.
A One-Off Class
For something a bit more fun, without straying from the gym theme, check out your local area for any cool yoga studios doing ticketed events like Cafe Meow’s yoga with cats? Otherwise, look into a trial class or special event in something they haven’t tried: kickboxing, spin cycling, hot yoga… whatever looks fun. Buy a ticket (or two) and send your pal to a new experience in their healthy habit (and join if you’re up for it).
No matter what, at the end of the day, you know your friend better than any internet list, but hopefully there’s something here that can help spurn an idea about what the fitness junkie in your life needs. Whatever it is, if it comes from a thoughtful place, they’ll appreciate it—though they might make you come workout with them, watch out.
