This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hamline chapter.

Plays and musicals can sing to the heart. If you need a theater fix, here are some that are playing near you.

Romeo and Juliet – Guthrie Theater

Ah, young love. What could be better? Perhaps one of Shakespeare’s best known plays due to its attraction to young readers, Romeo and Juliet is one you shouldn’t miss. Full of puns, rivalry and good old fashioned star-crossed lovers, the live action version will draw in even the most reluctant Shakespeare fans. If you’re interested, you better nab your tickets quickly because it closes on Oct. 28. If you’re tight on money, full time college students can get up to $6 off on ticket prices.

The Man of La Mancha – Theater Latte Da

Considered to be one of the most beloved musicals of the American theater, The Man of La Mancha is not one to miss. Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’s Don Quixote, it celebrates the life of a man who refuses to lose sight of his ideals and determined to see life as it should be. Powerful and funny, this musical is one to see if you’re feeling the drag of school and need a break from the real world. Act quickly if you want tickets because The Man of La Mancha closes on Oct. 22. If you’re still not convinced, student rush tickets are only $15.

If an orphaned girl can find a way through hard times, so can you. Playing at the Ordway theater in downtown St. Paul December 7 to 30, there is still plenty of time to ask Mom and Dad for tickets.
