Anthony Jackson ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hamilton chapter.

Name: Anthony Jackson

Class Year: 2015

Major(s) and Minor(s): Government and Africana Studies

Hometown: Miami, FL

What are you involved in on campus?

I am the President of the Student Assembly, and a member of Delta Chi.

How did you first decide to join Student Assembly?

I was having a tough time adjusting to Hamilton, and thought campaigning and serving would force me to get out and meet people. It did. That semester I found myself juggling 9 or 10 different committees, boards, and activities. I think my total is somewhere around 25 now.

What is the thing you miss most about your hometown of Miami when you are at Hamilton?

The people, the food and the places. I love visiting family and friends, going out to eat, and driving to the beach with anyone who’s down.
What is your favorite place on campus and why?

The Glen–any one of them. There’s no meetings, no people, no noise–just me and my trees.

If you could give one piece of advice to the class of 2017, what would it be?

Cherish it, take advantage of it, and make it your own. Not just Hamilton…life.

How can students get more involved in Student Assembly and what can we look forward to hearing about in the upcoming months?

They can submit suggestions to us via email or through our MyHamilton channel; they can come to our meetings on Monday nights with ideas, questions, and concerns; and they can even join an SA committee to ensure the success of a project. We encourage non-SA members to stay involved with us. We’re here to serve the student body, and we can’t do that well unless voices are being heard.
Courtney is a sophomore at Hamilton College who is majoring Psychology and minoring in Sociology and Spanish. She enjoys tour guiding, writing, and living on the dark side.
