Parents Weekend 2011!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

This past weekend was parents weekend here at GWU. To kickoff the weekend, GWU Women’s Volleyball team played Fordham University and won! Not only did they win, but a record was broken for the most fans to attend a Volleyball game at GW. After that, Colonials Invasion took place. It was the perfect way to kick off parents weekend as well as the GWU Basketball season. The show began with a little performance by Big George, the Hippo and various other Washington Sports team mascots. It was extremely funny. I didn’t know they could move like that! After the mascot performance, both basketball teams were introduced and then followed by various competitions involving the basketball players and Colonial Army members. The last act during Colonials Invasion was a performance by Capital Funk. They were unbelievable! They are definitely one of the most talented hip-hop crews around. If you haven’t had a chance to ever see them dance then you must look them up. It is definitely worth it!

On Saturday night, GWU had the opportunity to bring Bill Maher in to perform his stand up act. It was a really great show. He’s extremely funny and enjoyable.  It was about an hour and forty-five minute show and I couldn’t help but laugh the entire time. It was definitely a fun filled weekend at GWU and I loved spending time with my family!
