Four Fitness Tips for Every GWU Collegiette

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

You don’t have to be a diehard athlete to lead a fit and athletic lifestyle. An hour clocked on the treadmill or walking to that restaurant you’ve wanted to try in Dupont Circle instead of taking the metro are both ways to gain more energy, stay fit and burn some serious calories. Exercising regularly helps to boost your mood, calm anxiety and keep you focused. Between classes, your internship and maintaining a social life, it can be hard to fit in a workout and to have a nutritious and balanced diet. Her Campus GWU and Reebok FitHub have partnered up to give you some tips! Sign up here for a HerCampus Bodyweight Workout with a Reebok Fitness Ambassador at their store in Georgetown.

Make Fitness a Priority

Plan your day with a workout in mind. Write it down in your planner, create a reminder in your phone or make a workout date with a friend. You are more likely to make it to the gym or do that ten-minute abs workout out if you mark it into your schedule.

Find a Workout You Love

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a dance class or a walk along the Georgetown waterfront, find what motivates you to work your hardest. Your workout should push you, but also leave you feeling good about yourself, not defeated.

Workout with Friends On and Off Campus

Having a friend by your side can keep you on track and help push you to new heights. Maybe you have never tried a spin class, but your friend knows of a great class in Foggy Bottom that you will fall in love with. Friends create a support system for each other and can help you to achieve your goals.

Have Fun

Create a realistic goal. If you want to get into running, don’t expect yourself to be running a marathon by the end of the month. If you create attainable, short-term goals, you will start to see results, and you can have fun doing it.
