Her Campus: What is your favorite thing to do around campus?
Selina Askew: “My favorite thing to do around campus is to find an awesome secluded spot in either the library or Student Center in front of a big bay window. I like to take a moment for myself, reflect, and observe the fascinating architecture of Atlanta and observe the beautiful city and all the people roaming around campus and the Atlanta streets.”
HC: If you had to listen to one music artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?
SA: “My poppa, Bob Marley. It’s something about the rhythm of his voice that no matter if I’m ‘turnt’, sad, happy or mellow, his music fits every occasion. Bob’s music brings endless positivity to my spirit.”
HC: Where could you most likely be found on campus?
SA: “I could be found either in the bookstore buying some stylish stationary items or GSU apparel, or the café grabbing something yummy to eat.”
HC: What advice would you give to your freshman year self?
SA: “If I could re-advise my “freshman year self” I would have told myself to not use all of my “free unexcused absences” so early in the semester.
HC: What is your absolute favorite dish to cook?
SA: “I can make a mean Tortilla Soup with all fresh ingredients! It has black beans, corn, red chili peppers, onions, ground turkey, celery, and my original broth.”
HC: How would your friends describe your personality?
SA: “I am definitely true to my zodiac, which is Virgo. My friends always label me their Sunflower, because my presence is vibrant. They would say I am energetic, outspoken, talkative, ambitious, a “know it all,” funny, loving, feisty, over-analyzer, dreamer and a good time.”
HC: What are your dreams and aspirations after college?
SA: “My dreams and aspirations following college are to write a best-selling novel along with a series of self-growth and motivational books. I also aspire to create my own natural hair care line. Lastly, I want to thrive in a career as an event planner with eventful ventures.”
HC: Who inspires you the most?
SA: “My family inspires me the most. They support me the most. They give me valuable advice and the best constructive criticism. I know their feedback is always honest and unconditionally want the best for me. Any and everything I do is for my family. “
HC: What is your favorite book?
SA: “As of right now, my favorite book is the “Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. It is a self-growth or wisdom book.”
