“Damn Daniel” Boys Use Their Fame to Help Others

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

There is a good chance that you are either sick of hearing the words “Damn Daniel”, or you still laugh hysterically every time.

Either way, if you look beyond the catchphrase of the completely random internet sensation video, the boys responsible are actually pretty cool dudes.

Daniel Lara and Josh Holz (yes, the friend with a weird voice has a name) have been pretty busy since their explosion to internet fame.

They had a cameo in Weezer’s “California Kids”.

The two appeared on Ellen, where Josh was given a custom-made “Damn Daniel” Surfboard, and Daniel was given a lifetime supply of Vans.

But it’s what the boys did after Ellen that’s really impressive.

Josh and Daniel visited California’s Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, where they spent time with patients and gave out Daniel’s Vans. It was on Josh’s birthday too, which only makes it more adorable.

Following the visit, Josh (@Josholzz) tweeted: “Best birthday ever https://twitter.com/LLChildrensHosp/status/707974115567599616 …”

And now, the boys are turning their catch phrase into a brand. On March19th, they released a video advertising their new “Damn Daniel” T-shirts-a portion of the profits from which will benefit the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.

The shirts read, “Damn Daniel Back At It Again” and have a symbol combining J and D (The boy’s first initials, aren’t they cute?).

You can see the video the boys made about the shirts on Daniel’s twitter account: @daniel_laraa

The boys made Time’s 2016 “30 Most Influential People on the Internet” list, and are definitely making it a positive influence. Did I mention these two are a freshman and sophomore in high school? In my opinion, that makes their determination to make a difference even more impressive.

Damn, Daniel and Josh. Way to be.
