Use Twitter
Twitter has made a name for itself as the social media site for fast news. Checking in once and a while to see what’s trending is a super easy way to see what’s going on in the world. The only downside of Twitter is that news is often mixed in with passionate opinions and is subject to sensationalism. If using Twitter for news, always double check your facts before getting into online arguments.

2. Download a news app
Many major news companies have apps that you can download onto your phone so you can easily have access to professional news sources. If you turn on notifications, you can get alerted when important events are going down. This is an easy way to access reputable sources without going out of your way to find them.
3. Listen to a news podcast
Podcasts are the radio for the 21st century. Many major news outlets produce news podcasts spanning from 5 minutes to an hour. In particular, NPR produces many podcasts of varying lengths that are released either daily or weekly. Listening to a podcast while walking to classes is an easy way to get your news without having to set aside any spare time.

4. Sign up for a newsletter
If you’re a person that checks email a lot, signing up for a newsletter is a great idea. You just need to find an online newssource and provide them with your email. Often, you can personalize what will appear in the letter and how often you receive it. This is a great way to get a run down of events without having to do anything to find the news yourself.
5. Join a club on campus
A lot of clubs and organizations on campus deal with current events. Model UN clubs, political clubs, and newspapers clubs often keep their members up to date on events that are important to their group.
