5 Types of Birthday Celebrations in College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Coming from slumber parties overlooked by Mom and Dad, birthday celebrations in college are far from familiar territory.  Nevertheless, collegiettes can have a blast celebrating even away from home!

1.  College “family”

You might miss having Mom, Dad, Grandpa, and crazy Uncle Earl around sending birthday wishes, but your newfound college family has your back when it comes to partying.

2.  A New Kind of Party

For many new collegiettes, college life brings a whole new world when it comes to parties.  Celebrations may be a bit unorthodox compared to “the usual!”

3.  LOTS of free stuff

Free things are a backbone of college, and your birthday is no exception!  A quick Google search can get you a whole list of places that grant you free things just for being born!

4.  Excuses

College students are masters of crafting excuses, and your birthday offers just another opportunity.  “Should I do this paper?”  “Nah, it’s my birthday….”

5.  Care packages, gifts, and cards, oh my!

If they can’t be there for yout big day, chances are your family and friends back home will send you a little something special to celebrate!

Whatever your celebration, enjoy your day!
