It’s that time of year again, Valentine’s. and if you happen to be one of the single pringles of the year, this is for you! Valentine’s day should be about more than the commercial holiday celebrating couples and leaving the single people of the world feeling alone. This doesn’t have to be the case because there is so much more to valentine’s day than boxes of chocolates, teddy bears, and cheap jewelry. If you’re single this valentine, try cultivating the relationships that currently surround you.

Take time to nurture your friendships.

“Galentines” are one of my favorite single-girl-friendly holidays. Go out with some of your girlfriends and just take the time to pour into one another. Get your nails done, get some brunch, or catch a good movie. Anyway, there are plenty of ways to show love to your girlfriends and not spend the night alone with a bottle of Stella rose. Friendships are important relationships too. It’s important if you’re in a relationship to make the same effort at seeing friends, keeping in touch, and being there for them as you did when you were single. It’s really easy to get caught in the whim of having a significant other. Just don’t forget to check on the girlies who were there for you.

Try solo dates

Solo dates are the introvert’s cup of tea. Apart from growing is learning to enjoy these moments on your own. So, for valentine’s day, try focusing on the relationship that matters most, the one you have with yourself! Take time to do things you enjoy, think about your passions, and check in on those goals you made at the beginning of the year. Creating a relationship with yourself can help enhance other parts of your life as well. As far as being able to treat yourself well, this lets people around you will know how you deserve to be treated! Introduce yourself to a vibe that is worthy of being maintained!

Love on your community.

This one is for the soul. If you find yourself alone for valentine’s day and with nothing to do, try volunteering. Volunteering at places around you can help fill your heart like no man ever could! Places like shelters, soup kitchens, and schools are filled with people who are in need of some love. Don’t waste your time and energy on a man who doesn’t appreciate it! Take those words and put them into somebody’s life who would cherish it. No time to volunteer? Try donating; there are plenty of foundations and causes that are in need of some care as well. GoFundMe has causes of various kinds for which people in need of some help raise money. Whether it’s college students like us or somebody in need of some medical treatment. Don’t buy that man Gucci; pour into somebody who needs a hot meal.
