This week we have chosen an Iota by the name of Kobe Stringer for Frat Boy Friday!

Major: Information Systems

Classification: Junior

Hometown: Arlington, Georgia

Fraternity: Iota Phi Theta

A little information on Iota Phi Theta: Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated is a nationally incorporated, historically African-American, collegiate fraternity. It was founded on September 19, 1963, at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, and now has initiated over 30,000 members.

Why did you chose Georgia Southern?

“This has been my dream school since 10th grade, I wanted to go somewhere that everyone else was not going. It’s a great school with a great environment”.

Like Kobe, most of the students at Georgia Southern are in love with the campus and the environment. The energy felt at Georgia Southern is unmatched and definitely one of the best aspects at southern.

What do you enjoy doing?

“I love playing basketball, sleeping and praying”.

What are some of your goals for this year?

“I plan to finish the semester with a 4.0 GPA and start a big brother-little brother mentoring program with local elementary schools. For my long term goals I want to own a cyber-space security business, put more programs about technology in low income areas, rebuild a park in a local hometown and put all my people on. My short term goals are to fulfill whatever God has for me”.

Kobe is an information systems major which are the software and hardware systems that support data-intensive applications. He emphasizes that he wants to mentor young boys in elementary school which I think is very important in the black community. You often have black kids who feel like they have no one to look up to and with technology growing drastically everyday it is important to have black figures representing in these areas. We see you Kobe. Also, he mentions that he wants to put all his people on; you can not forget to give back to your home and Kobe plans to do so.

What advice do you have for college students?

“Males, remain a stand up guy and never change who you are; only better yourself. Females, take care of yourself and stay safe. Have fun but, be cautious”.

Kobe is definitely setting a good reputation for the Iota’s at Georgia Southern. If you see him on campus, say hey!
