Dear Diary: I am overwhelmed by “Gross Folk”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Dear Diary,

I have been having thoughts about the filth that I have been around lately, and I need someone to vent to. I don’t know how much more I can take of it. I believe that it is my right to complain about people who are gross. Let me tell you why. It is absolutely atrocious when people eat out of cooked food in a pot and leave it on the stove expecting it to remain fresh instead of taking two extra minutes to find the appropriate Tupperware and put the food away in the fridge. Also, it is just wrong when you complete that process and just leave the cooked remains of the pot setting down on the stove top or leaving it in the sink without cleaning it. Sometimes it is even gross to just rest it in the dishwasher and wait for the dishwasher to become completely full before running it. Why can’t people find it in their hearts to just clean up after themselves?

Why do people find it necessary to not clean after everything they use? Huh Diary? I just cannot fathom people who just leave dirty dishes on the counter of the house, in their rooms next to their beds or just simply the same place without cleaning it right after usage? I think there comes a time when people need to be exposed to the true horrors unkempt living. Diary, is it possible for someone to let go a trail of ants or a random bug into the rooms of the untidy soul so that they can learn the lesson that being dirty isn’t cute?

Why is it that people get mad when they go to other people’s homes and complain about their dishevelled room, but their own house is a complete mess? The hypocrisy is so rampant. Also can you tell me, Diary, why people cannot fix themselves before going to others and having things to say? Isn’t that bad? Wait? Am I one of those? Nope, because I clean up Diary. You know from coming by and seeing the cuteness of my room, right?

Lastly, please tell me Diary why do people have stains in their bathroom? It resembles the struggles of people during slavery. Wait they didn’t have the bathrooms we have now so why can’t people clean it? With all the different types of cleaning agents invented why can’t people use them? Also why is it that when people are home with their family their homes are spotless or close to it? Come on people of the world please keep up with the cleanliness. It works and then it makes you look so much better to friends and family because little do you know that when you do something so much and you have a solid group of friends after a while it rubs off. I know from experience.

Diary I am sorry for coming down on you and getting irate but hopefully, people can try more and it will be great. Anyhow I will talk to you tomorrow. I have new news on the boy Tom Asher. Can’t wait to tell you.
