Dear Body, I love you. I accept you. I see you.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

This past Friday, Visage Fashion Company put on a fashion show entitled “Language of Lingerie: Lavish’d Lovestory”. The show featured both male and female models of various heights, sizes and complexions, all in lingerie.

And they all looked AMAZING.

Now imagine the amount of confidence it takes to go up in front of your peers and model in lingerie while making it look completely effortless. Not everybody has that type of confidence. But we all should.

The models in Language of Lingerie were not your “typical” extra tall, lengthy, pencil shaped models. They were REAL people, our peers, who all have imperfections but whose confidence shined brighter than anything they may have been insecure about. These models were inspiration. Every single one had me shook lol.

I feel like everyone should have the confidence that those models displayed. I know everyone is not going to feel comfortable walking around in their underwear but the reason shouldn’t be because you don’t think you have the body for it. If there’s something about your body that you don’t like then WORK to IMPROVE it. Eat better, exercise more, just don’t give up on it. And if you’re working to change it, don’t stop working until you get the results you want (as long as your results are realistic).

More often than not, we try and change our bodies for the wrong reasons: for the approval of others. We work out and sometimes starve ourselves to obtain a body type that wasn’t even meant to be ours to begin with. We work out to change ourselves instead of to become healthier.

As long as you’re doing right by your body, there’s no reason you shouldn’t want to show it off.

“Body confidence doesn’t come from trying to achieve the ‘perfect’ body. It comes from embracing the one you’ve already got.” -Unknown
