School is back in session and I can’t be the only one who things my life is slowly falling apart the further we get into the school year.

The first problem I always have is money. I swear I am ALWAYS broke. There is always something to do, someone is always having a party, you’re always craving that Wendy’s 4 for $4. This is the first time of your life that you’re really on your own so you just want to ball out all the time. I don’t know about you guys, but my parents have access to my debit card statements being that they are the ones that originally opened the accounts. With that being said, it makes me more cautious of what I buy. How embarrassing would it be to get a phone call from your mom saying, “Why did you just buy a $250 comforter, you just got a new one in August?” Then you would have to explain that you just ‘had to have it’

Until I came to college I thought I was the queen of organization. I’m still very organized but it takes so much work now to get there. Classes just started a couple of weeks ago, and I feel like I’m behind on things we haven’t even learned yet.  Professors like to think that they are the only class you’re enrolled in and give you so much work. Many of us are taking 12+ hours, involved in multiple organizations, do volunteer work, and some even have a job. So as you can see that’s a lot on your plate and it’s hard to keep track sometimes.

Picking your major in college is just a struggle in itself. I’m a Junior in college and I’ve changed my major 3 times. I came to college as a psychology major, changed to child and family development, and just a last semester changed to sociology. I’m happy with where I am now but that just goes to show that it’s so hard to decide what you want to do. Adults expect us to know exactly what we want to do straight out of high school and that’s just so unrealistic.

The last and finally college struggle is..food. I wasn’t required to have a meal plan after my Freshmen year so I didn’t get one. They are around $1500 so why spend that much money if I don’t have to. The one thing I failed to realize is that groceries are so expensive on a college budget. I spend anywhere from $70-$120 every 2 to 3 weeks on food. While I’m walking through the store it doesn’t even look like I put that much in my cart! Being that I have such a busy schedule it is also hard to find time to cook a real meal. There are many nights when I’m making hotdogs or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because I’m so drained from the day. Even when I do cook I’ll see a Zaxby’s commercial on TV and crave Zaxby’s…spending unnecessary money.   Those were my 3 struggles of college and I’m sure everyone can relate!
