Fashion and beauty trends may come and go but there is one look that never goes out of style: confidence.

Many young girls shy away from bold lip colors for the fear they can’t “pull it off” or boys will think they are trying too hard. However, given the right occasion and outfit, I strongly believe any woman can rock a vibrant lip color and will feel more feminine, confident, and bold as a result.

In fact, according to an article in the Huffington Post, A 2012 study held in France found that waitresses who wore lipstick actually received higher tips from male customers. Even more interesting are the results of a study held at Manchester University that tracked the human gaze. Researchers found that in the first ten seconds after meeting a woman, the average man will spend more than half that time staring at her mouth, and the color red prompted the longest gazes.

“Our research suggests that red lips and perceived attractiveness are still inextricably linked, with red lipstick the most powerful attractor, and one that significantly increases visual fixation.”

Personally, I wear the Laura Mercier mulberry lip stain and love it. I have found it to be the absolute perfect shade, as it is a deeper than scarlet and does not distract from the rest of your face. In far less scientific studies than those mentioned above, I have found very similar results when wearing this product, not just in compliments from others but also in my own personal self-assurance.

Life isn’t about blending in; it is about blazing your own trail, in both your actions and your personal style. I believe the first step to start whatever path you may choose to pursue, is to apply your lipstick.
