Incorporating Christmas in Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Geneseo chapter.

December has finally come and that means a lot of things, one of them being Christmas. Christmas is one of the most joyful times of the year. Kids are excited knowing Santa is coming to give them presents. College kids are happy to be done with the semester and to get a break. However, there are many people that do not incorporate Christmas into their daily lives.

One simple way of bringing Christmas spirit into your daily life is to just watch one Christmas movie a day. There are so many different movies that come out during this holiday season. Hallmark has a new movie that comes out every day and movies that are old all day long, showing Christmas spirit throughout these movies and also TV series. Disney+ does offer new holiday movies as well, but also series which are just as good as the movies, showing holiday spirit.

The second way to bring Christmas into daily life is one way that may be tasty. Make Christmas cookies, decorate a gingerbread house or decorate pre-made cookies from Walmart. Get some friends and make some cookies. Not only does it make for a sweet treat in the end, it brings holiday to not just you but your friends. Being together doing something fun for the holidays is just another way to have fun. You can even make a competition out of it but also being festive during this time!

The third way to celebrate and incorporate Christmas spirit into your daily life is to decorate! Decorate your door, decorate a Christmas tree, bring in fake snow! Anything you want to decorate, even decorate your car! Everyone can see it. It can make everyone happy and get in the holiday spirit. There are many different ways to decorate, lights, trees, wrapping paper, anything you want to decorate or do, you can! Everyone walking by or being by to see what you did and get in the holiday spirit.

The last way and one of my most favorite things to do during this holiday season is to drink hot chocolate and enjoy the specialty drinks from Dunkin’ and Starbucks! Dunkin’ has peppermint hot chocolate and it is very good, it just brings joy every sip. The feeling of being around at home with a cozy blanket watching a movie is one of my favorite holiday pastimes. Hot chocolate is just one holiday drink but it is probably the superior drink for this holiday!

These are just a few of the ways that you can enjoy the holidays and bring holiday cheer to people around you!
