How My Skincare Routine Is Getting Me Through Finals At GCU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

Before coming to college, I was the worst at taking care of my skin. I didn’t have a set skincare routine, and rarely even washed my face. I always knew that I should invest more in my skin, but my on-the-go lifestyle, combination skin, and teenage budget made skincare fall very low on my priority list.

Now that I have grown up a bit, and have begun to understand the importance of self-care, skincare products (such as those from Estée Lauder’s new Nutritious collection!) have become essential to my daily skincare routine.

Caring for my skin has boosted my confidence and has been a great way to slow down during the craziness of college life, especially during finals. Having self-confidence – and getting a confidence boost from having a good skincare routine – is especially helpful during finals week: when you look good, you feel good, meaning you’ll feel more prepared to ace your finals!

Finding the right products is often the hardest part of creating a skincare routine. Luckily, Estée Lauder’s new Nutritious Collection includes products that have been formulated for all skin types to address a variety of skin concerns. The three products in the collection cover all the necessary basics for both a morning and night skincare routine and are easy to implement even when you are at your busiest.

  1. Start with the 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser, a daily cleanser that removes excess oil and impurities while minimizing the look of pores. Clinical testing on 33 women after a single product application found an immediate 17% reduction in the appearance of pores.
  2. Follow up with the Radiant Essence Lotion, a hydrating infusion that minimizes the look of pores, helps prevent redness, and reduces excess oil. Clinical testing on 32 women after using the product for 8 weeks found oiliness to be reduced by 40% and a 31% minimization in the appearance of pores.
  3. Finish your routine with the Nutritious Melting Soft Créme/Mask, a hydrating moisturizer that calms, hydrates, and strengthens the skin barrier. Clinical testing on 29 women found the skin’s texture immediately refined and post-acne marks reduced over three weeks after a single product application. After continuous use of the product by those 29 women for 3 weeks, pores appear minimized by 41%, and after 8 weeks, oiliness looks reduced by 52%.

Each product is full of nutrient-rich and naturally derived ingredients meant to restore the radiance and refine the texture of dull skin while providing skin with balanced nutrition — which is especially important in the hot and dry Arizona weather that has a tendency to make skin appear duller. Finals week is a great time to implement these steps into your skincare routine as summer is approaching to keep your skin glowing and beautiful!

At this point in my skincare journey, I am by no means an expert and am still learning something new all the time, but both my skin and my mental health are in a much better place now than when I was younger. Because of what I have learned, I feel more prepared to take on finals week than ever before, and encourage you to find a routine that helps you feel your best!
