Being young, we’re told we only live once, so we might as well make it count. We’re told that we should feel the world, see the world, and experience what the world has to offer with the people in it. Life is built on experiences and what we do with our numbered days. As this is true, it’s important to not let this overwhelm us, but ultimately inspire us. Here is a realistic bucket list of some ideas to accomplish and make a habit in our 20s:

Learn to love being alone

Being solely by yourself opens the doors for you to learn countless valuable things. When you allow yourself to “just be”, you can better take care of yourself and gain clarity. Not to mention, there are several benefits. According to NY Times, spending time alone benefits your social relationships improves your creativity and confidence and helps regulate your emotions. Take those walks, read those books, and indulge in that self-care!

Travel to a new country

Traveling allows you to step out of your everyday routine life and experience things from another perspective and part of the world. You can learn about a new culture, taste new foods, learn how to manage a budget, and make lifelong friends. Whether you go to the Eiffel tower or see the Northern Lights, you can see unforgettable and breathtaking beauties that you wouldn’t be able to see by staying in your comfort zone.

Take up a New Hobby

It is never too late to learn what you love and what brings you true joy. A new hobby could mean painting, songwriting, photography, hiking, or even learning an instrument, language, sport, etc. Practicing a hobby helps with stress, allows you to stretch your imagination, and gives you an opportunity to slow down and take a break.

Switch up your style

It is easy to want to stick with the realm of fashion that you are comfortable with, but you are ever-evolving. Fashion is a form of expression and can boost confidence when you feel good about what you wear. Use websites like Pinterest to gain fashion inspiration and buy yourself that outfit you’ve been eyeing. Who knows, you may find a new style you love.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Take risks to enhance your life. Taking risks transforms your life into a movie: A movie that you can’t stop watching because you can’t wait for what will happen next. Taking a risk could be as big or small as talking to someone you never thought you would, applying for your dream job, starting a YouTube channel, dyeing your hair, or backpacking through Europe. As the Huffington Post reported, “risk-taking not only exposes you to dozens of positive outcomes you never would have experienced before, but it also boosts your confidence and helps you let go of the fear of failing.” Risks lead to some of the best things in life that could only happen through being okay with temporary discomfort. If it doesn’t work out the way you expected, at least you tried, and it makes an incredible story.

Go out there and create some stories in your 20s!
