No matter what your college workload is, we can sometimes feel burnt out. We can’t be expected to live, laugh, and love all the time; a girl must recharge once in a while. A weekend excursion is perfect for getting new scenery, relaxation, and well-earned me time. A getaway can be a perfect option to get some alone time from the bustle of campus life. However, with Valentine’s Day around the corner, this would be a great opportunity to spend a weekend with your boo (or even make it a Galentine’s trip)! These top three getaway ideas will be geared toward all sorts of travelers. No matter the budget, vibe, or companions, I got you covered!

Bed and Breakfasts

This is a great option for people who don’t want to drive too far. Tallahassee has a handful of B&Bs to pick from. This would be a perfect fit for Gilmore Girls fans, as most of your options are quaint little inns. They are also relatively budget-friendly, but at the same time have such beautiful charm. These quaint inns have bubble baths and reading written all over them. B&Bs are the perfect romantic getaway, but they would make an equally excellent solo trip. However, they are not exactly girl-trip-esque.

My favorite picks are the Cottage Bed & Breakfast (a cute Mediterranean experience) and The Capital Inn (all about Southern charm).

Cabins

This is going to be your most versatile option for a weekend adventure. This is great for a small group of friends. Most cabins near and around Tallahassee are a bit away from civilization, which has its pros and cons. You definitely wouldn’t want to go with a situationship or friends you aren’t as close with because you will be isolated, but being off the grid with your besties can bring you closer together.

Many of the cabins have pools, ponds, trails, and/or indoor activities. Just imagine having a girl’s weekend with late-night movies, swimming, early morning hikes, and homemade breakfast. You are going to feel the stress disappear with all the fun you would have.

You’ll find the cutest cabins in Tallahassee’s South City area and just north of Tallahassee in Thomasville.

Camping

Okay, don’t freak… hear me out. I understand some of us can be one with the bugs and the dirt, and I wish I could be like that. However, this is more of a glamping experience with toilets and AC.

25 minutes away in Wakulla Springs, you’ll find amazing AirStream rentals. Some are in actual campgrounds, while others live on their own secluded lots near streams and along the spring. We can finally enjoy camping without feeling like we’re on Survivor. Also, because you can’t forget to bring your furry friends, most RVs are pet-friendly!

This would be such a perfect date weekend opportunity with so many activities to do nearby. The springs might be a little cold this time of year, but definitely put this idea in your calendar for March or May. There is just so much to do, like kayaking and paddleboarding. Not to get too cheesy, but this would be a great place to see wildlife and be in nature. Get Pinterest-y and have a fairy light and candlelit dinner by the water!

Traveling doesn’t have to be far and expensive. It’s totally up to you! This is your adventure, so make the most of it.
