‘Stranger Things’ Has Turned Us All Into 80s Wannabe Fashion Icons

Warning: Stranger Things season two spoilers ahead!

Netflix dropped the second season of Stranger Things Friday, Oct. 27, to our surprise three days earlier than its anticipated release date of Oct. 31. It is safe to say that most us spent that weekend glued to a couch, binge-watching all nine episodes until our brains were about to implode, well not actually, but you get the idea. Stranger Things is an iconic show, without a doubt. But why is it so iconic? Apart from the fact it has one of the most intense and complicated plot lines of this generation, there is something about it that puts it up there right beside the classics.

After only two shorts weeks of grieving over the fact I finished Strangers Things season two way too fast, I’ve noticed what I really miss about this season is the fashion. Maybe it’s detachment issues, but I’m pretty sure I am not alone. The fashion and aesthetic of this season were one for the books. From episode 7 where El has an astonishing punk rock makeover to Max’s classic oversized jeans, vibrantly striped tees and flaming red hair to Nancy’s chic new bob, this season was loaded with iconic looks from beginning to end.

The best thing about the cast of Stranger Things is that their style does not stop at the end of the season. Each character in this show is a style icon off the screen as well as on it. The young actress who plays Eleven in the series, Millie Bobbie Brown, turns heads every time she walks onto a red carpet. For being just 13, she is outdoing most of Hollywood with her eclectic classic style and is one of the only actresses her age that has been able to pull off that iconic buzz cut.

We can’t exclude the young actors that play Will, Dustin, Mike, and Lucas. The best friends on and off the screen have this Outsiders boy band look that everyone is raving over. Like what?! UGH, can I join the party?

Not to our surprise, Target caught on to the Stranger Things fashion obsession and has just recently put out a new line of Stranger Things merchandise. Including to die for graphic tees, oversized pullovers and extremely comfortable sweatpants.

The 80s look has been making a revival for some time now, with the comeback of bellbottom and corduroy overalls but after Stranger Things season two, it is safe to say that most of have been digging through our parent’s closets for Nancy’s fur and denim bomber jacket or searching the web for that perfect vintage tee to create that effortless Stranger Things vibe.

Thank you, Duffer Brother, for making all of us question the generation we were born in. After this season, I officially wish I was living in the 80s.
