All the single ladies put your hands up! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and chances are if you clicked on this article you don’t have a big date planned. Valentine’s Day is devoted to love; this year, make it self-love. Here are some ideas to embrace the Valentine’s Day spirit as a single lady!
Spa Night
What better way to celebrate self-love than thanking your body with a spa night? Download your favorite playlist and grab a good book. While a trip to the spa will do the trick, chances are, you’re working with a limited college budget. But, there’s an easy solution: an at-home spa night. Not only will you save heaps of money, but you don’t have to worry about changing out of your sweatpants and leaving your house! Take a bath, light your favorite scented candle and grab the perfect face mask. If you haven’t already, check out Riley Rose in Governor’s Square Mall. They have all the necessities for the perfect spa night.

Galentine’s Day
We all know the saying “sisters before misters,” so why not embrace it this Valentine’s Day and spend the day with your girl gang. Grab some brunch, spend the night out on the town or have a night in. The possibilities are endless!
Visit an Animal Shelter
I can’t think of a better way to spend Valentine’s Day then cuddled up with a furry friend. If you don’t have a pet, don’t worry, you can enjoy a warm drink while curling up with a cat at the Tally Cat Cafe. Or if you’re more of a dog person, visit Landis from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to eat a cupcake and Smooch a Pooch with Delta Nu Zeta
Take Yourself on a Date
Valentine’s Day is all about self-love, so why not spend the day with yourself? If there’s a place you’ve been dying to try, but your friends don’t seem interested, go by yourself. Get dressed up, or don’t! Do what your heart desires. Try exploring new places in Tally or go for a road trip.
Get Creative
Express yourself through art. Doodle ‘til your heart’s content or visit Paint-A-Pot and make something beautiful. Or if you’re 21, grab a group of friends, your favorite bottle of wine and head to Painting with a Twist.
Movie Night
The best part about being single on Valentine’s Day is not having to get dressed up. Break out your favorite pair of sweats, grab a spoon and your favorite flavor of Ben and Jerry’s (the only men you need on Valentine’s Day). Better yet, take advantage of the Valentine’s Day sales and play some truffle roulette. Looking for the perfect rom-com? Try The Proposal, Valentine’s Day, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days or Just Go With It. Another movie night hack: rent a projector from Stroz (for free) and build a blanket fort.
Get in Touch
Valentine’s Day is all about spreading love, and what better way than calling your fam or sending a card to a pen pal.
Whether you decide to spend the day with your best friends or a good book, I hope your Valentine’s Day is everything you want it to be. Just remember that Valentine’s Day is about love, and self-love is an important part of that. Try not to get too caught up in the commercialism of the holiday and no matter what, don’t forget to love yourself because you deserve it!
