My Personal Taste Test of Madison Social’s October Drinks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

It’s October, and you know what that means? Halloween! I look forward to exciting events, fall snacks, and Halloween costumes every year. So naturally when I saw that Madison Social has themed Halloween drinks, I went to the bar and tried each one for myself. I wanted to know how each drink tasted and see which one I liked the best.

If you don’t know, Madison Social has a monthly challenge where anyone over 21 can go to the restaurant and ask for a challenge card. On the card, there are seven drinks made for the challenge. Order one of the challenge drinks, and a bartender will stamp the card off for the drink purchased. Complete the whole challenge card and the prize is a Madison Social T-shirt!

“It’s a collaboration between our bar management, staff, and our marketing director and marketing team. They come up with the challenge drinks they feel would appeal to our guests,” said the General Manager of Madison Social, Jonathan Gager.

Let’s get to my personal opinion of the drinks!

Turtle Power

This drink is perfect for a chocolate lover! It has whiskey, caramel, turtle, and chocolate milk. The flavors in this drink are insane. The first sip and the chocolate pops right out at you. It really does taste like turtle candy.

Violet Beauregarde

You get an immediate hit of blueberry when you taste this drink! Have you ever tried blueberry pancakes, and been amazed by how great they are? Yeah, this drink is booming with blueberries. This drink has blueberry Smirnoff, blueberry puree, lavender syrup, lemon juice, and soda.

Fizzy Lifting Drink

This one is super lemon lime soda-like! This drink has St. Elder Pamplemousse liqueur, so it has a definite citrus-like taste. There’s Tito’s, lemon, and soda in the drink, too. I recommend this drink to any of my lemon-lime soda people out there.

The Best Starburst

I’m not lying… it tastes like a pink Starburst, so Madison Social must obviously agree that the best Starburst is the pink one! You can 100 percent taste the vanilla, which, for some reason, makes it taste more like a Starburst in this drink. The watermelon liqueur in the glass pops out, too!

Revenge of the Nerds

I love the color of this drink. Besides the fun, spooky greenish-blue it is, the drink is great! There are even Nerds candies in the drink. The flavors of the blue curacao and the lemon-lime soda come together and collide with the melon liqueur.

The Golden Ticket

Okay, immediately, it’s golden. Like, you can see the glitter swirling around in the cup, but that’s not why you’re reading this. The drink is delicious! I like the Jim Beam; the peach comes together to make a great combination. But also, again, glitter. Gold. Glitter. Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket has nothing on this Golden Ticket.

Candy Corn Creamsicle

This drink blew me away as well! The soda pops out first, then the sunshine orange cream punch, and the pinnacle whip. Madison Social made a drink for candy corn which tastes like candy corn.

“[Madison Social] is a huge part of people’s college experience. It’s a big part for a lot of people and coming back to visit Tallahassee after they’ve graduated and gone away,” said Gager.

If you haven’t been to Madison Social this month, you need to go before October’s over. These themed Halloween drinks will be gone next month, so taste them while you can! Also, take your completed challenge card to Madison Social to get your T-shirt. Gager says that “seeing people inside Madison Social enjoying themselves and having a good time is a big part of what we do.”
