Madame Mary’s Zodiac Corner

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Featured Sign: Pisces

The sun is high in Pisces this week, so it’s imperative that we all release our inner artist.  Pisces brings out an emotional and creative view of the world, but also heightens our need for privacy.  Pisces, the sign of actor and the child, is loving and emotionally in touch with themselves.  They are highly romantic, and likely to make big gestures to show their love.  They are gentle and caring, and unlikely to have flings or short-term relationships.  If a Pisces enters into a non-serious relationship, they will become resentful so be careful.  On the other hand, Pisces value their privacy above all else.  Do not try to force a Pisces to tell you about their past.  The past affecting the present is a fear of the fish, as well personal criticism.  If you do not respect a Pisces’ privacy, you will drown in the wrath of the fish.

Featured Letter by Hillary from Blacksburg, VA

Dear Madame Mary: A Libra, a Taurus, and a Leo walk into a bar … Who will get the drunkest, who will get hit on the most, and who will be the designated driver? And the twist: If the bartender is a Gemini, who will he go home with?

Hillary,

The designated driver would automatically be the Taurus.  Taurus is the sign of the mother. She is the ultimate caretaker – especially since this is a group of three women! When Taurus is confronted with two signs outside of her compatibility quadrant, like Libra and Leo, she will always prepare for the worst.  Fortunately, Taurus is in for a great surprise.  Libra-Leo is the most harmonious combination in the zodiac.  They are both relatively responsible, and they are both the types to start philosophical debates when inebriated.  They will also alternate who is most drunk and who gets hit on the most depending on the atmosphere.

If this tantalizing trio is located at a swanky rooftop bar in New York or LA, the Libra lady will be in her element.  Libra is a lover of fine things.  She is a masculine sun sign with a feminine ruling planet.  The biting sarcasm or wit of Libra, mixed with her tangible femininity, will have the A-Listers crawling all over her.  Leo, being competitive and equally as attractive, will not fit in as well with this crowd.  Therefore Leo will become the drunk in this scene.

However, if these lively ladies are seen at a downtown bar in Nashville, down-to-earth Leo will be attracting the most men.  Leo is vivacious and controlling and exciting. The Leo lady will be able to drink 12 beers, ride the mechanical bull, and still drive home safely.  The Libra – probably wiping everything in the establishment with an antibacterial wipe – will come off as snooty and unapproachable.  In this case, Libra is the drunk.

Now, regarding the bartender: that’s a tough call.  Gemini is not in the compatibility quadrant for Libra, Leo, or Taurus.  So one of these three signs would have to have a Gemini swing (which means that Gemini is a sign that is often encountered but outside of the natural compatibilities).

Gemini and Libra will get along splendidly.  They are both air signs and likely to read and appreciate good music.  Gemini will be charmed by Libra’s knowledge, but disenchanted by Libra’s independence.  Libra will feel competitive with Gemini because he gets all her jokes, but she wants to feel challenged by Gemini.  In the end, Libra is still a possibility.

Gemini will be highly intimidated by Leo’s blunt manner.  Leo will be underwhelmed with Gemini, since his strong suit will be his intellect – a trait for which Leo appreciates, but does not look for.  Gemini and Leo would not go home together.

Taurus will be flattered at how easily Gemini reads her emotions.  Being an earth sign, Taurus is unconcerned with fancy things and sees Gemini as a break from her monotony.  Taurus will want to be sought after, so if this is a gutsy Gemini, he will talk to her.  I believe they will hit it off! I think that Gemini’s moods will not faze Taurus as she lives to serve.  Taurus’ care taking will not bother Gemini as he is pleased with being taken care of.  Taurus is the other possibility for Gemini to go home with.
