This past Friday, Feb. 12 the Museum of Fine Arts on FSU’s campus hosted a reception for the opening of its new exhibition, “Cuban Art in the 20th Century: Cultural Identity and the International Avant Garde,” an event that drew in over 1200 visitors. This exhibit, curated by Segundo Fernandez, took years in the making and consequently has become the largest exhibition of Cuban art shown in the United States in over 70 years!

The exhibition will stay nestled in the museum throughout March 27 of this year. The museum is open to visitors Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends. Go check out the amazing works of Cuban artists from past and present, and share in the pride of the Seminole nation!

McKenna is a junior at Florida State University studying History and Editing, Writing, and Media. As an avid reader, her bookshelves are overflowing; her literary taste ranges from Jane Austen and the classics to Stephen King and young adult novels. She is a theater geek, sporadically breaking out into song (the Phantom of the Opera is here!) in the checkout line at Publix. She owns way too many coffee mugs, but never has enough Star Wars merchandise. She has a passion for writing, and has been known to write love letters to the greatest men in her life (Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Dick van Dyke, to name a few). She is more than excited to join the Her Campus team this semester!
