Five of the Best Indoor Plants You Won’t Kill This Time

We all have seen the TikToks and pins on Pinterest that have introduced the beauty into having plants as part of your house decor. The pop of color and life into your home brings excitement, but also worry of your lack of a green thumb. Taking care of house plants has definitely been proven to be a difficult task. However, with the right information and just a few minutes out of your day to take care of your new plant babies, it will be easy-peasy!

I am here to help ease your worried thoughts and to introduce you to some green friends that you will NOT kill this time. Keep reading for a couple of local Tallahassee nurseries, as well as Black-owned plant shops to show support during Black History Month!

1. Pothos (a.k.a Devil’s Ivy)

This elegant plant can grow in many different environments. Low lighting is something that the Pothos’ love! If you spend most of your days in the dark cave of your room, this plant would be perfect to hang from a macrame plant hanger or place on your dresser. They can adapt to under and overwatering as well. The most important info to take away about this plant is that it is toxic to pets, so be careful!

2. Air Plants

These teensy babies love their indirect sunlight and only need to soak in water for about five to ten minutes, every two to three weeks! They come in every shape and size imaginable so displaying them is no hassle and quite beautiful.

3. Aloe Vera

This cute little succulent is widely known to help aid cuts and burns with the juice from its leaves. Just like the air plants, it loves bright and indirect sunlight. She loves a good, thorough watering every two to three weeks. Search up other succulent friends for more easy-care plants!

4. Orchid

These gorgeous plants do great in humid environments, so putting them in bathrooms is the way to go. These flowers come in all different varies, so it is best to do research on what care your orchid needs. These are a little bit more advanced when it comes to watering, but do not be frightened. They are considered hard plants to kill, so give it a chance!

5. Snake Plant

Water this beauty every two to eight weeks depending on the weather and she’s good to go! They are able to grow in a variety of light settings as well. She may sound intimidating, but she can survive even if you have a talent of killing plants.

This is just a small handful of some tough plants that are great for beginners! Do your research, take on the easy responsibility and you’ll be on your way. Take part in 2021’s hot trend of becoming a plant parent!
