It’s almost Halloween, and you know what that means: costumes! While coming up with a cute costume can be really fun, I know that it can also be super stressful to find something that you like and that works with whoever you’re going with. So, here are my top 13 favorite Taylor Swift costumes you can wear by yourself, in a group/duo, or with a romantic partner!
Individual Costumes
1. Taylor Swift Barbie
Dress in all things pink and fantastic! This can include a classic Taylor outfit, such as one of her past tour looks, but make it pink! As we know, Margot Robbie claimed Taylor Swift is “such a Barbie,” so remake any of her looks or design your own with a pink Barbie spin!
2. Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour look
Specifically the outfit she wore during her songs “I Know Places,” “All You Had To Do Was Stay,” “You Are In Love,” “Clean,” and “Love Story.” This classic look, complete with thigh-high boots, will be sure to make everyone do a double take of your outfit. Plus, everyone knows this one, and it’s super breathable for FSU’s weather.
3. Olaf from the 1989 World Tour Halloween Night in Tampa
This one is so simple, cute, and funny. It will also show you’re a true Swiftie! During her 1989 Tour on Oct. 31, 2015, Taylor surprised her fans by bringing out Idina Menzel in an Elsa costume, while she sported an Olaf getup. Simply go buy an Olaf costume from the Frozen section of the costume store, add a red lip, and call it a day. Super fun and cool, if you know what I mean.
4. “Shake It Off” Music Video
For this one, you can pick any of Taylor’s iconic outfits from her eventful “Shake It Off” single from 1989. Whether a ballet dancer, cheerleader, or hip-hop cutie, chances are you probably already have something in your closet that you can piece together to remake one of these looks. Happy costume-making, and enjoy rewatching the music video (a guilty pleasure for me and many of you)!
5. Junior Jewels
I will be the first to admit that I have done this one. I took a basic white t-shirt and some primary color fabric markers and spent about an hour making one of my favorite costumes of all time. It was super comfy and there is a ton of inspiration on Pinterest that you can find. Complete the look with pajama pants, some glasses, and a messy bun and you’ve got yourself a comfy and cute Taylor Swift classic look.
Group/Duo Costumes
6. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Duo
Throughout their friendship, Taylor and Selena have sported some iconic looks. Years of red carpets and performances have provided us with so many cute ideas for costumes. One of my favorites is their black and white outfits during the 1989 World Tour when Taylor brought out her BFF to play her hit song “Good for You.” This cute, yin-yang style fit is perfect for you and your bestie to each have your moment, while also complementing one another as the perfect duo.
7. Red Graphic Tees
Taylor’s original shirt from the “22” music video with the quote “NOT A LOT GOING ON AT THE MOMENT” is iconic. However, in her Eras Tour, she sports a couple of new ones and a twist on the original: “A LOT GOING ON AT THE MOMENT,” “WHO’S TAYLOR SWIFT ANYWAY? EW,” and “WE ARE NEVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER. LIKE EVER.” These shirts are easy finds; just accessorize for a duo or trio look!
8. Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button
I’m not talking about the characters in Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order: SVU, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I’m talking about Taylor’s famous cats. I think it would be hilarious to walk around on Halloween and see three cute kittens, but not the sexy take on a basic cat. Instead, you’ll wear name tags and red lipstick. You can still be super cute, but it would be awesome to see everyone’s best take on each of her cats as a group. If you don’t have a trio, this works for a duo as well, just be her kitties from before the Lover era (without Benjamin, unfortunately).
9. Costumes changes for each era of the Eras Tour
This is one of my personal favorites. As we know, Taylor provided us with countless serves throughout her beloved Eras Tour. However, this didn’t just mean a change for each era. Instead, Swift gave us new costumes each night, for each era. I think the perfect costume for you and your Swiftie besties would be the variations in her tour outfits for a single era!
You could go for her opening Lover bodysuits or 1989 matching sets, each with their own color palettes and designs for a tighter and more sparkly option. Or you could go for a simpler look and wear her varying Folklore or Evermore outfits and be super comfy and breezy. Couples Costumes
10. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift
If you know, you know. For the girls with sporty boyfriends, we all know he owns a jersey; just slap an 87 on it. If your partner isn’t so sporty, that’s no problem! Find a red shirt, get a little crafty, and put 87 on it. Then for you, pick your favorite Taylor look and call it a day.
11. “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince”
Simply put on a couple of crowns and a homemade sash for each of your titles. This is super simple and easy, and you probably already have everything for it in your closet. Plus there is a ton of inspiration online!
12. Cheerleader or Band Member and Football Player
“I’m on the bleachers,” but your partner doesn’t have to be! This costume could go one of two ways, and you can be Taylor Swift in either option. For a cuter and more cliché look, you could go for the cheerleader/football player duo and be the “mean girl” in Taylor’s “You Belong With Me” music video. Taylor Swift played her own bully in this iconic video, so it’s actually pretty funny, and much easier to find in stores.
If you want to get creative and make your own costume, go for the “band geek” option and be the embodiment of Taylor’s character in this video. Your partner can be the “boy next door” football player that our beloved Lucas Till played to complete your look. You’ll be the best costume either way!
13. Moon and Saturn
“Love you to the moon and to Saturn.” This is the perfect costume that isn’t too cheesy and doesn’t scream Taylor Swift, but the Swifties will know its meaning. Wear silver and gold or orange and accessorize. It’s super cute and wholesome and the perfect romantic fit for you and your partner.
