Love Is in the Air: My Valentine’s Day Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

February is here: the month of love! What better way to set the mood than to listen to songs about love? From mainstream love songs you surely recognize, to oldies and indie love music, these are just a handful of my recommendations. If you want to see my full playlist, click here.

“My love mine all mine” by mitski

You’ve probably heard this song before on TikTok. Ever since Mitski released this song, I’ve been listening to it nonstop. Anything Mitski sings is like a sweet lullaby, but I especially enjoy how this song makes me feel. I saw her perform it live at her Orlando show and it was an even better experience.

“Sidelines” by Phoebe Bridgers

I love this song, but I also love all of Phoebe Bridgers’ music, so I may be a little biased. I love how the lyrics describe how being in love can empower and elevate one’s existence.

“True Blue” by Boygenius

This is one of my favorite songs to listen to since it can represent love from a lover or friend. This song expresses how someone might know you better than you do yourself. I deeply resonate with the line, “I can’t hide from you like I hide from myself.”

“Skin” by Dijon

This seductive song highlights the intimacy between two lovers and describes what it’s like to be physically close to someone you have an emotional connection with.

“Accidentally in Love” by Counting Crows

You may recognize this song from the Shrek 2 soundtrack. It’s about falling in love when you least expect it.  I love how catchy the song is!

“Best Part” by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R.

When these two gorgeous voices harmonize, they sound as sweet as honey. I love how sweet the lyrics are, as they express admiration and demonstrate how much their lover means to them.

“Because I Love You” by Stevie B

My father dedicated this song to my mother when he proposed to her over a candlelight dinner. This song means a lot to my mother, and I grew up listening to it, so it’s one of my favorite songs about love.

“Dreaming of You” by Selena

This song is a classic, so I wanted to include it because I adore Selena. Her voice is stunning.

“Sweet” by Cigarettes After Sex

This is about two lovers who share a connection and know they love each other without even having to say it.

“Pretty Boy” by The Neighbourhood

In this song, if the world ends, it’s fine as long as the person has their lover beside them. The only thing they need is for their person to be with them.

“I’m a Believer” by The Monkees

A timeless song that is pretty self-explanatory!

“MyLuv” by Spencer.

This song isn’t as popular as the others, but you should absolutely listen to it because the instrumentals and beat are so catchy and lively.

“Kissin U” by Miranda Cosgrove

I adored this song as a child, and hearing it now just confirms that Miranda Cosgrove is that girl.

“Lover” by Taylor Swift

Need I say more? This playlist wouldn’t be a true love playlist without some Taylor Swift.

“Sure Thing” by Miguel

“Cause this love is a sure thing.”

“Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac

When you fall in love, you want to be with that person wherever you go.

These are just a few of the songs on my playlist, which you may listen to whether you’re single, in love, or just fantasizing about fictional people in books or rom-coms. We can all agree that love is beautiful and is all around us.
