Festival Fits: A Rundown of Social Media’s Favorite Coachella Outfits

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Once again, we reach that time of year when our Instagram feeds are flooded with outfit pictures and our “For You” Page is full of videos of your favorite musicians performing. This Coachella craze is only gaining traction as we see more and more outfit reveals from both weekends of festivities. This year, Coachella’s overall style seemed to be more casual than in years past, with many influencers on TikTok even coining the term “Chillchella” to describe this year’s festival. A neutral color palette with plenty of greens, browns, white, and denim added a rustic touch to Coachella’s typical boho chic style. The newfound laid-back style of Coachella gave us a variety of fashionable outfits from weekend one to reflect upon and live vicariously through.

Willow Smith

Singer and songwriter Willow Smith did not let being a Coachella performer distract her from having a killer outfit. Smith wore a denim romper with multiple strips of denim hanging from her waist belt. As Smith performed, these denim tassels swung and danced alongside her. This movement took her look to a new level as she sang on stage. Smith finalized her outfit with a pair of strappy black boots, bringing the whole look together seamless-ly (get it?). Smith’s captivating outfit and amazing musical performance made her a sight to be seen this Coachella.

Zoi Lerma

Famous TikToker Zoi Lerma’s (TikTok username: zoifishh) outfit was decked out from head to toe. Lerma wore a matching white knitted mini skirt and a short sleeve crop top. A variety of waist chains and jewelry, such as arm cuffs and chunky necklaces, made this outfit truly unique and quite eye-catching. In addition to the statement jewelry, Lerma wore knee-high red leather boots. These shoes rounded out this neutral-toned look by adding a pop of color and retro style. This touch of retro elevates this look and makes it one of my personal favorite outfits from weekend one.

Madeleine White

YouTuber Madeleine White had one of the most interesting and atypical festival fits of weekend one. White wore a “tube top” made of alternating black and brown belts. These belts had differing buckles, creating a vintage and edgy look. Below the belts, White wore a grayish-green, glen check patterned skirt. This pleated skirt gave her outfit an added dimension and appeal. This outfit has gained significant traction on social media as many people fell in love with White’s out-of-ordinary use of belts.

Renee Herbert

Australian influencer Renee Herbert wore another one of my personal favorite Coachella outfits. Herbert wore a cream-colored, deep cowl neck shirt paired with a matching ruffled skirt. Overtop her skirt, Herbert accessorized with a chunky brown belt with a gold buckle. Sticking with the cream color, she wore matching arm and leg warmers along with knee-high boots. Lastly, she wore a flower choker around her neck. This monochromatic look felt so put together, and Herbert wore it perfectly.

Suki Waterhouse

Having starred in the newly released and extremely popular show Daisy Jones & The Six, eyes were definitely on Waterhouse at Coachella—and she did not disappoint. Waterhouse’s look was equally casual and fashionable. Waterhouse wore jeans with a matching cropped denim tank top. The dark denim paired well with Waterhouse’s white and blue striped button-down. Waterhouse absolutely rocked this effortless yet stunning look.

Coachella and its glorified dress code have a reputation for presenting some of the best fashion inspo of each year, 2023 being no different. From stunning denim looks to monochromatic moments, weekend one of Coachella 2023 had it all! Don’t let Coachella’s growing casual style distract you from the truly great fashion weekend one gave us.
