Catch the Concert Bug? Your Guide to Spring Gigs in Tallahassee

Spring semester is here and with that comes a fresh year of new music and events at your disposal here in Tallahassee and on campus. We’ve narrowed down some of the top events to hit town. From rising hip-hop artist, Yung Gravy to the world-renowned Beach Boys, it is shaping up to be a full-lineup this spring here in the simulation. 

Beach Fossils Jan. 27

You heard us right, Beach Fossils are making their way to The Moon this week. The indie-rock band was established in 2009 and since their conception they’ve created hits such as “Saint Ivy”, “Sugar” and “Down the Line” that have reinforced their voice in the world of independent artists. Tickets are free, yes free, for FSU students with a valid student ID. Doors open at 7pm, so be sure to get there early as tickets are first come first serve!

Whitney Feb. 4

Folk-indie band, Whitney, will be making a stop at The Moon this February courtesy of the Club Down Under/Union Productions team. Whitney has collaborated with artists such as Bon Iver and Father John Misty to pave their way within the music industry. The band formed in 2015 and has since released two studio albums with a few singles along the way such as “No Woman” and “You and Me”. The doors open at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm. This is a CDU event, so FSU students receive free admission with a valid student ID. 

Destination Okeechobee Tallahassee Feb. 9

Potbelly’s Bar, an off-campus favorite, is hosting “Destination Okeechobee”, a multi-artist event that features local talent as well as artists like Evalution, Dubyes and Gaia Jones. There will be a giveaway to concert-goers, offering a chance to attend Destination Okeechobee Festival in Okeechobee, Florida this March. Tickets to this event include entry to Potbelly’s, the Music Garden and the Painted Lady where you can enjoy the vibes of the bar before and following performances. Doors open at 6pm and tickets are available now starting from just $5. This event is 18+ so make sure to keep your ID handy!

The Beach Boys Feb. 14

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, so save yourself some trouble and head to the Beach Boys concert. Paradise is just a few steps away with the legendary group performing at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. If you’re a fan of the classics, this is an event you surely cannot miss! $10 rush tickets are available for students on the day of for most events at RDCH, so if you’re feeling spontaneous, this may be the perfect time to go out and treat yourself.

Dillion Francis and Yung Gravy Apr. 18

Up and coming hip-hop artist, Yung Gravy has nailed down a date for a Tallahassee show at The Moon in April. He will be joined by Dillion Francis, a popular EDM artist and DJ while they move through their national venture, “The Sugar, Spice & Everything Ice Tour”. Tickets are about $50 and they are available on The Moon website. Interested in meeting Gravy himself? Say less, there are meet and greet packages available as well.
