I don’t know about you but I am spending all my free time rewatching New Girl for the one-hundredth time before they commit the horrible crime of taking it off of Netflix. New Girl is and always will be my all-time favorite show. So in honor of it being removed from Netflix, I will analyze which spots on campus best represent each character.
Nick
I strongly believe that Nick’s favorite spot on campus would be Landis Green. The hacky sack legend seems like he would spend most of his time ditching class and hanging out on Landis playing hacky sack and sitting on a bench. Who knows, he might even make friends with the campus monk that hangs out on Landis who, to be frank, has always given me similar vibes as Tran, Nick’s friend that he met in the park.
Jess
Jess Day would definitely be a BookTok girlie and would thrive in the beautiful Dodd Hall with the light from the stained glass windows flooding her while she sits and reads and grades papers. I bet she listens to fairycore music while drinking her tea and imagining herself as the main character in the books she’s engrossing herself in.
Schmidt
Schmidt is the ultimate bro and would absolutely rush one of the top fraternities while at Florida State. I strongly feel that he would feel most at home somewhere on College Ave, shotgunning beers at parties, hooking up with an endless line of beautiful girls and playing die on the front lawn. He would probably be the social chair of his fraternity and would be the one crafting the intricate texts to sororities inviting them to their fall party.
Winston
My favorite cat dad would most definitely spend most of his time sitting on a bench outside of Dirac bonding with all of the different campus cats. His personal favorite would be Ghost and the entire campus would know him as the quirky guy always sitting around petting the cats. He would probably even be the owner of the campus cats Instagram page and would constantly be showing his friends endless photos on his camera roll of all his favorite cats.
Coach
I have no doubt in my mind that Coach would spend every waking moment at the Leach working out in what I like to call the big boy section. More than likely he would also be a personal trainer there or teach one of the more intense classes where he would be known as the trainer/teacher that motivates you through screaming at you. When he isn’t at the Leach he would probably be one of the interns that work with either the football team or basketball team.
Cece
With Schmidt being the fraternity king, it only makes sense that Cece would live somewhere on sorority row and would attend all of Schmidt’s pre-games and parties and would probably accompany him on his frat formal trip to NOLA or Nashville. I would even go as far to say that the girlboss would become her sorority’s president and probably the sweetheart of Schmidt’s fraternity. The two would make the perfect Greek couple and would be the king and queen of College Ave.
Though I am absolutely crushed that Netflix is taking away my favorite show, it will always remain the best show to ever exist in my opinion, and the characters will continue to influence me daily. After writing this article, I know that when I walk past these particular spots on campus, the characters of New Girl will immediately pop into my head and brighten my day and I hope they can do the same for others.
