Campus Celebrity Janecia Britt: eff.Y.bee Brand Ambassador

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Website: effybee.com

Her Campus (HC): So, what are you involved in around campus?

Janecia Britt (JB): In addition to being on the Victoria’s Secret Pink Street Team and staff for Her Campus, I am a Brand Ambassador for a start-up company called eff.Y.bee.

HC: How did you get involved with eff.Y.bee?

JB: This past summer, I had the opportunity to work for an incredible internship in New York in the Garment District working for a showroom. While I was in NY, I had the opportunity to attend a conference for Her Campus, where one of the event sponsors was eff.Y.bee and I was able to speak to the CEO Alyssa about the company. I had always wanted to work as a brand representative at my college campus, so when I met Alyssa and heard more about her start-up company, I knew it was the position for me!

HC: What did you like most about the company?

JB: I loved how personal the experience is. I am the first brand representative in the state of Florida and this is the first year that this company has attempted to brand so far south. I loved being about to meet Alyssa in her home office to go over the plans to have me start this fall. She just had a really great energy and style that made me more and more excited to start. Not many people can say that their CEO calls them up personally just to chat!

HC: What is your job through eff.Y.bee?

JB: Basically, I just work through social media and promotion for eff.Y.bee in addition to hosting trunk shows.

HC: I’m sure some are wondering, what exactly is eff.Y.bee?

JB: eff.Y.bee is an NYC-based company that has grown into a multi-faceted jewelry brand with a mission to inspire others to “follow their bliss,” as its name uniquely stands for. The handmade collection, designed with natural stones and vintage elements, is carefree, refined, and classic with a subtle boho edge.

HC: What kinds of products does eff.Y.bee offer?

JB: We have a variety of bracelets, which we are most known for, necklaces and earrings. We do custom orders and personalization, including for Greek organizations. Since all of the jewelry is handmade, there is plenty of room for customization. Each bracelet includes a gold charm for our logo which can be personalized as well with an initial or set of Greek letters.

HC: How can ladies go about making custom orders?

JB: If they would like to order online, use the code: janeciafsu15 and for group orders email me personally at jcb12f@my.fsu.edu. Also, I will be hosting a trunk show in conjunction with the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Viewing Party which will be held on December 9th at 9pm.

HC: Is there anything else you want to tell us about eff.Y.bee?

JB: eff.Y.bee began in the summer of 2011 on Founder Alyssa Kuchta’s bedroom floor. Inspired by her experiences in college- fundraising for earthquake relief in Haiti and working at a local boutique, Kuchta discovered her passion for design, entrepreneurship, and giving back. After a summer of self-taught jewelry making and sewing fabric wrap bracelets with her mom, she launched an ecommerce site and hosted her first trunk shows on campus at the University of Delaware. eff.Y.bee supports entrepreneurship by providing Brand Ambassador and Sales Representative programs, and a sister brand Bay Lavi, that employs vulnerable populations of women in Haiti through collaborations with non-profit organizations. eff.Y.bee hopes to continue supporting and inspiring women around the world to believe in themselves and the reality of their dreams.
