Her Campus (HC): So what are some of the things that you are involved with on campus?
Amy Lindholm (AL): I am currently involved with Lady SpiritHunters and I am also the Intern to the Coordinator of Offense Operations in the football office here at Florida State.
HC: Wow, what an amazing opportunity to be a part of! Tell us a little more about how you were able to get that internship?
AL: It was actually through Lady SpiritHunters. There was a SpiritHunter who was already working in the office, Carson, and she approached me about possibly joining the intern staff.
HC: So what’s it like working in athletics here at Florida State?
AL: Working in athletics is a lot different than what I thought it would be. Yes, there’s mostly men on the floor, but it still has a very well-balanced family aspect to it. I used to work in a museum back in Miami and I really loved how that atmosphere felt like a family through our workspace, everyone caring about each other and everyone wanting to see each other do well; And I think this has been recreated for me here at Florida State. I found my second home at Florida State football because my boss, Ms. Daphne, the Coordinator of Offense Operations, is basically like my work mom. It’s really nice to work for someone who cares about you, but is still your boss and can still have that balance of teaching me how to do things but also talk to me about my life and being accessible to me. If I ever need something, I know I can go to her.
HC: That’s a really great feeling to have. How long have you been working with the football office?
AL: My first day was last year on September 11th, so I’ve been there for a little over a year now and it’s really wonderful. Everyone wants you to be there as much as you want to be there, but being in that office makes you want to be present all of the time. I always ask for more hours, and it’s really nice to be appreciated by all the people that you are seeing doing all this amazing work with the athletes themselves. It makes the little things we actually do, like stuffing envelopes, helping with game day operations and not working for pay really worthwhile.
HC: I hear you like to do photography in your free time. Tell us a little more about that.
AL: I am a freelance photographer, mostly for graduation photos. It’s been a lot of fun to work with graduating students and helping to create memories of their own in a sense that they can go to their favorite place on campus or where they first met all of their friends and take pictures with those people that they’ve known for the past 4 years. Hearing all these stories of finding out their major, what they’ve been involved with at Florida State and seeing different places that are important to them on campus is really interesting to me. I remember someone having a really strong connection to Bellamy and having another person really hate Bellamy because all of their annoying classes were in there. The history side of me is geeking out because I love how those shared experiences with the same historical buildings can also be different.

HC: While we’re on the topic of history, what is your favorite FSU tradition?
AL: The fight song! Not only do we sing it at the end of every Lady SpiritHunter meeting, but being in the stands and doing the fight song with 13,000 other students and the fans on the other side of the stadium is just amazing. It was the experience that solidified the fact that I actually wanted to be here at Florida State. It’s a sense of unity and a sense of pride. Obviously I love football, and getting able to work in football makes doing the fight song really important to me.
HC: So even though you’re a Junior, what are you going to miss most once you graduate?
AL: I wouldn’t just say being in the football office, but going to the football games as a student. I’m also going to miss being on campus and seeing so many familiar faces, having people that you know always around, and just being in a community that you’ve built for yourself and having that community surround you at all times. Campus is my veins, and the entire student body is my pulse. Getting cheesy, but I love this school because I feel so much at home. I never expected to feel at home 8 hours away from home, but it’s become part of me.

AL: The “Desire” (Gryffin Remix) by Years & Years, “Here for You” by Kygo, “Levels” by Nick Jonas and I kind of been dipping into some Fetty Wap lately.
