3 Ways To Travel To Israel On A Budget Thanks To Israel Experience

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Contrary to common belief, traveling to—and even staying in Israel for extended periods of time—can be stress-free and inexpensive. Whether you’ve never been before or are itching to go back, here are 3 programs that will cure your wanderlust all organized by Israel Experience:

1. Taglit-Birthright with Israel Experience

On Birthright, you’ll float in the Dead Sea, sleep under the stars in the Negev Desert, eat tons of hummus, slip a note into the Western Wall, and explore ancient cities—all with new American and Israeli friends. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is free 10-day trip for all Jewish young adults between the ages of 18 and 26.

2. Onward Israel

If you want to spend your summer traveling to an incredible country, sightseeing, and trying new foods but also want to beef up your resume with an impressive internship, Onward Israel is the perfect way to relieve your travel bug and keep your parents happy.

Onward Israel is a two-month internship program that enables Jewish college students to gain professional work experience in their field of interest while exploring cities most people only dream about. From internships in everything from journalism to medicine, this program has it all and is highly subsidized, making it even easier for those who are on a budget. Onward is international and is open to everyone who is eligible, and with their Hillel program students from every college are welcome to apply. There are also specific trips for Jewish young adults living in Cleveland, Baltimore, Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, New Jersey, Toronto, and Cincinnati.

3. Long-Term Programs

With over 200 different options, Israel Experience offers long-term programs designed to help young adults connect to their Jewish heritage while developing their personal, academic, and professional goals. From one month to a year, participants have the opportunity to volunteer, intern, or study.

What’s great about this program is that it’s Israel Experience’s goal to make it possible for young adults to stay in Israel for extended periods of time. They offer grants and scholarships to help make trips affordable and collect information about third party scholarships for extra financial aid.
