Where Federal Workers Can Get Discounts and Freebies During the Shutdown

It has been nearly one month since the government shutdown which launched in December of 2018 under President Donald Trump. Federal workers across the country are feeling the effects as they struggle to find food and meet monthly bills without a paycheck. During this time, several establishments within the Miami-area have opened their hearts and will be offering discounts and freebies to federal employees with valid IDs.

Arson. Arson will be offering two of their dishes on the house now through all next week: The spicy provoletta and the greens and fruits salad with honey mustard dressing are available to anyone with a valid federal ID.

Better Days. Federal employees with valid ID will receive a free beer or well drink. 

Kings Dining & Entertainment Doral. Federal employees with a government ID can enjoy free bowling Monday to Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. Kids bowl free with the purchase of a kids meal. 

Nightlife Brewing Company. Federal employees with valid ID will receive one free core beer.

Pollo Tropical. Federal employees with a valid ID can purchase the signature citrus marinated chicken with rice and beans for $2.99. The offer is good at all Florida locations. 

Repour Bar. Federal employees will get a free specialty cocktail with the purchase of a cocktail on the new Stranger Drinks menu. 

Rocco’s Tacos. From now until January 20, Federal employees with a valid government ID will be entitled to a one-time $20 food credit (alcoholic beverages are not included).

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Government employees from the Treasury, Homeland Security, Interior, State, HUD, Transportation, Justice, Agriculture and Commerce departments who show their valid government ID can enjoy lunch at Fresh Harvest or dinner at Sorrisi now through January 31. From Monday to Friday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., a government employee and guest can have lunch at Fresh Harvest once a day and up to five times a week. The maximum value is $19 per person and $38 per couple. At Sorrisi, a government employee and guest may have dinner once a week on either Sunday, Wednesday or Thursday (5 to 10 p.m.) or Friday and Saturday (5 to 11 p.m.). The maximum value is $40 per person and $80 per couple. Reservations are recommended.
