It’s time to start putting yourself first, it may sound cliché but “Treat-yo-self”. Doing so boosts your mood, reduces stress, and has positive effects on mental health. Not only that but treating yourself helps form good habits and stay on track of your goals. People who deprive themselves from treats or rewards while trying to create a new habit or a goal (like a diet) tend to lose track and is not a healthy way to accomplish something.

It’s normal to think it’s not easy to find time when living a busy life, but prioritizing even a little of your time to taking care of yourself is beneficial to you AND the people around you. As they say, to love others you first need to love yourself and finding self-love can start with rewarding yourself at least once a week, to keep you going on your goals.

Need ideas on how to start? Below are 7 ways you can treat yourself without breaking the bank:

1. Write

Keeping a journal and writing all your feelings and thoughts can be rewarding at the end of the day — it’s a way to let everything go.

2. Paint

Let your creative side come out and express your feelings through colors. Try going to a garden, listen to the birds and let your wrist flow.

3. Have a Spa-day

After a long day at work or at school, go home, put on a face-mask, turn on your favorite playlist and enjoy a hot bath.

4. Cook or bake

Sometimes cooking can be entertaining, especially if you try or create new recipes.

5. Go to the beach

Take a day off to go to the beach, lay in the sand, read a book, listen to some music or tan!

6. Binge-watch your favorite TV-show

There are times when watching your favorite show for hours on end, cuddled up in bed and wearing your favorite PJ’s is a must.

7. Ride a bike

Grab a bike and ride around your neighborhood or go to the park. Biking is great exercise and can help clear your thoughts.
