Downtown Miami drew more than 3,000 people this Saturday to promote the Formula 1 race taking place in 2020.

The Formula 1 Festival kicked off at Bayfront Park and was free admission for anyone that wanted to attend.

“I am a huge car fan and I have been waiting for the F1 racing to come to Miami for years. The exhibition of the motorcycles and the super rare cars from all over the world was my favorite part,” said Alfred Fonseca, a senior at Florida International University who was there to photograph the event.

Companies such as Red Bull and Arab Emirates airlines participated giving away goodies to attendees. Different activities where taking place to keep the attendees entertained as well as different food and beverage vendors for anyone who wanted to grab a quick bite to eat.

The festival showcased racing giants Aston Martin, Red Bull, and Renault Sport Formula One Team, giving spectators a taste of what’s to come as they raced down the streets of Miami. Two-time F1 World Champion, Emerson Fittipaldi, was also in attendance.

The F1 team raced down Biscayne Boulevard as spectators aligned alongside the street ready to experience first hand the thrill of some of the fastest cars in the world.

The event also headlined Silk City, Diplo, and Mark Ronson who was showcasing his latest project at the festival’s concert which took place that evening at the F1 Park. Alongside these worldwide musicians local talent joined them in a free concert open to the audience.

The Formula 1 team had one goal: to engage their existing fans and attract new followers to this international and thrilling sport.

Miami is the fifth city to host an F1 festival alongside London in 2017, Shanghai, Marseille and Milan.

Formula 1 created hype around the event as they released exciting ads with their latest advertisement efforts. Days before the event the Red Bull Team released a crazy donut stunt on top of the tallest building in the city.

“America is increasingly becoming a hub of passion around Formula 1 and I am particularly excited about the opportunity to host an F1 Festival in Miami. The success of the US Grand Prix in Austin demonstrates the appetite for Formula 1 in this country and we are determined to bring the sport to even more American fans in the coming seasons,” Sean Bratches, Managing Director, Commercial Operations at Formula 1 told the F1 communications team.
