I am a strong believer in “you get what you pay for”, especially when it comes to purses. They’re the staple to our lives, carrying everything you could ever need throughout day and making an outfit into a perfect 10. I know most of us aren’t really “ballin’ on a budget” but purses are an investment worth making.

Quality over quantity is something every woman should live by, I mean think about it. We spend $500 in Sephora getting high-end makeup that we know will last us for ages and that at the end of the day, work for us. Bags are the same thing. My first bag was bought 6 years ago and I vow that to this day, the bag looks exactly like how I first got it. Believe me when I say it has been through hell and back, beat and battered, but still it has risen above all. Durability is one of the main factors in why I choose designer brands.

Another perk about designer bags is that many times, if the bag breaks or is damaged, the company will take the bag in and fix or exchange it. Kate Spade has a full year warranty that if their product doesn’t live up to the full potential, you can exchange or return it with no problems given. Additionally, price retainment is a huge plus. You could very likely sell your Micheal Kors bag for almost the same price as you paid for it.

Heads up! I am not saying to go out spending your month’s rent on a bag; but here are some things to keep in mind for next time you’re buying your next child!

Top 5 Signs That Bag is NOT Your Friend

Unnecessary pockets. Although it seems like they will be useful in the future, pockets that are too small/big for your belongings will just end up collecting dust.

Inconvenient straps. Avoid thin straps like the plague or you’ll be sawing off your arm. If they’re unadjustable. double-check that the strap aren’t too long/short.

Too heavy for its own good. The perfect weight for a handbag is 2.2lbs. Now, I’m not saying to bring a scale with you in every store weighing every possible bag, but this is the only situation where less is more. Heavier bags are recipes for shoulder and back pain. Not cute.

Low-quality materials. Leather goods should feel soft and smooth, nothing like plastic. Anything other than leather should feel sturdy, not flimsy.

Inconsistent stitching. Seaming should be consistent throughout, without any loose threads. Too many seams equals too many ways your bag can fall apart, making the bag weak.

Okay pretties! I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing this article! See you soon!
