Alternative Ways To Commemorate V-Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

We know some of you are trying to figure out what to do today, especially since it’s gotten a little chilly outside and going to the beach is comepletely out of the question. If you want to make this day memorable, fun, and romantic, but don’t have a clue how, then this article is for you! Take a minute to read some of our Valentine’s date ideas below.

1. Try a new restaurant together

While going to your usual restaurant could be comforting, trying out something new together could give your date and edge of adventure that will most likely make your day fun and memorable. However, make sure you both agree to this or it could be disastrous otherwise. For those of you who are not too comfortable with the idea, trying out a new Sushi place could be nice. And for the more daring ones trying out an entire new cultural themed restaurant is recommended. Example: Thai or Korean food.

2. Stay out to see the sunrise

Spending the day together is sweet, but most of us in love know that the day couldn’t possibly have enough hours to expend together. So if you think that spending the evening at a restaurant is main stream, then staying out together by the seaside waiting for the sun to rise could be as sweet a treat as any Valentine’s chocolate out there. Make it different this year!

3. Make him a cake and watch movies

This is for you kitchen lovers, for you risk takers, and for you madly in love collegiates. Making him a cake for Valentine’s is something he’s not going to be expecting. Boys know cooking and baking take a lot of time and dedication and when you pop up with some nice pastries in the name of love they can get more than just happily surprised. It will guarantee you a nice evening with tons of endless love and gratitude.Make sure you have planned some nice, romantic movies to watch while enjoying the cake. Remember this is your chance to show your love and enjoy your sweet time together.

Also, if you are truly set on this, are good at baking, and have somewhat of an artistic sense, then making him a cake themed on one of his hobbies could be cute. Example: basketball cake.

4. Lay together by FIU’s lake

For those who have class today, fear not! Laying together on the grass by one of the lakes behind GL is a great and romantic way to spend your time between classes. So grab a blanket, a few sandwiches, your most optimistic smile, and set off to spend a nice afternoon under the sun while cuddling with your significant other.

And in case you do, please don’t forget to take a picture and hashtag us #HCFIU!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!
