2. Taking care of the most prized possessions in people’s lives.
Being a counselor means learning all about responsibility. Children, although difficult at times, are the greatest gifts and taking care of them can teach you a lot about life and yourself.
3. Give you the best friends that you could ever ask for.
Whether you started camp as a camper or just started your camp experience as a counselor, you make the most special bonds with your coworkers. Personally, I do not see my camp friends as friends, but rather as sisters. No other place gives you friendships like camp.
4. Depending on the age of your campers, you have the possibility of gaining even more best friends.
Although it seems weird to have best friends who are a few years younger than you and still in high school, they can still offer the best advice. At times you can feel like they are even acting like your counselors.
5. Camp is a place that allows you to be the best version of yourself.
It is a judge free environment that allows you to be a child again for two months out of the year. You are able to let free and just be whoever you want to be. What is better than that?
6. It is a place that offers you the opportunity to fall in love.
In this enclosed environment, the likelihood of finding love is higher. Summer romances are always fun and easy going, but who knows it could turn into something more serious.
These are just a few reasons as to why attending summer camp as an adult is one of the best experiences that you can have. In today’s world, we all want to be kids again and being a camp counselor gives you that sliver of happiness. After being a counselor for two summers at the most amazing camp in the world, it is strongly recommended that next summer you should work as a counselor at a summer camp. It might not seem like the most desirable job, but I promise it will be worth it.
