Stay Afloat as the Spring Semester Winds Down

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FAMU chapter.

Cramming for tests, late night studying, group projects and trying to turn in assignments before it’s too late. All of those mean one thing: SPRING SEMESTER! For the past three years spring semester has been a repeated cycle. For me, it is the most stressful semester of the year. I balance applying for scholarships, waiting on internship interviews, debating on whether or not to take summer classes and trying to find a summer job.  Spring semester is “crunch time.” When it is almost near the end of the semester, some professors will try to make you cram a lot of information at once and will give you an exam two days after the information has been taught.

There are three key things to remember if you become stressed out during this time.

  1. Manage your time. Time is very important especially when you have a huge agenda and with numerous things to do.
  2. Always write down a daily and weekly schedule. Keep some type of planner or calendar to control allotted time throughout your day.
  3. Your schoolwork is most important. There will always be parties, probates and other activities and events going on but it’s important to stay focused. Remember what you came to school for – your work comes first.

If you want to have a successful spring semester you should make sure your priorities are in order. It’s a great feeling to leave for the summer knowing you’re in good academic standing.  In order to stay determined always remember that you have three long months of VACATION around the corner! Stay focused and know that you can do anything you put your mind to!
