No Bae? No Valentines Day?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FAMU chapter.

February 14th is vastly approaching. Often called the “Day of Lovers”, but not limited to or excluding the loveless or “Baeless”. A day of sweet nothings, bouquets of flowers, chocolates, big top-shelf prize bears. A day of romance, candle light, fancy dinners and sexy lingerie.  What day is it you wonder? No other than Saint Valentine’s Day.  For those lovers who are engulfed with passion for that of another living, breathing human being, whose heart is swelling with excitement for this year’s upcoming Valentine’s Day, THIS POST IS NOT FOR YOU! This post is for the ones Cupid missed. No, he didn’t miss you all on purpose but simply because he’s not a professional Archer, but a chubby god who holds the power of desire, erotic love, attraction and affection. So, for those who missed getting hit by Cupids arrow this year because his aim was slightly off, or because this love ‘thing’ is just not your groove, here are 5 things you can do to make your Valentine’s Day just as special.

  1. The Movies: The movies are always a great place for going out, regardless of the occasion. With the highly anticipated film Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James being released on February 13th

  1. The Spa: What better way to spend the day of love than loving yourself. A trip to the spa is always a treat to the mind and body.

  2. Game Night: Throw a game night for you and other singles, they travel in packs. Make the night fun and interesting.

  3. Create: Take this day to be creative. Write a poem, start a painting or compose a symphony. Whatever it is get those creative juices flowing.

  4. Bar hop: A wise man once said “The love of my life is probably somewhere drunk in a bar.” So venture out and discover the night life. It’s no telling who you will find or who will find you.
