Over the last few weeks the weather in Falmouth has been full of torrential rain, gale force winds and even a bit of hail. One minute the sun comes out, giving us a glimmer of hope, so we put away our thickest coat and wellies and step outside with the hopes of not losing our fingers to frost bite. Only to be sorely disappointed to find that the Cornish weather has changed its mind, instantly sporting the drenched hair look which is plastered to our faces and feeling our socks getting damper and damper with every step. Because of this, Her Campus Falmouth has decided to ignore what the weather is doing outside and think about some of our favourite Festivals within Cornwall to look forward to this summer instead.

1.      Boardmasters is known by many to be a surf and skate music festival on the beach. What more could you ask for right? Whether you’re a surfer, skateboarding pro or just generally love music and the Cornish coastline, it doesn’t matter, as this festivals main ethos is to find summer in Cornwall. And how can you not?! The line up consists of people such as James Bay, Example and Stigma? Boardmasters is normally known for being a long weekend festival, but if camping isn’t your style than you can just pay for one day. If this festival sounds perfect for you and your friends this summer, then book now as tickets are selling fast!

2.      Tunes in the Dunes as we know it is coming back for its second year, set on the beautiful beach of Perranporth in Cornwall. With the back drop of cliffs and sand dunes it really is a view to behold. For more of a relaxed atmosphere, Tunes in the Dunes is the place to be. So if you’re not really comfortable with being pushed around in massive crowds and would rather relax on the beach whist watching the British longboard championships with music playing in the background, then this is the festival for you.

3.      For more of a local and relaxing festival, The Cornwall Film festival which is held every year produces a wide variety of different films and genres. There is also a range of workshops, educational events and professional development for you to try. So if you love watching and learning about films, this festival is a good alternative for people who aren’t too fussed about well-known music festivals.

4.      Masked Ball is once again hitting the Cornish Coastline on the 20th to the 22nd. This festival, situated in Porthleven, is getting bigger and better than ever! The headliners this summer include the likes of Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada and 2ManyDJ’s. Weekend tickets are selling out fast, so if you don’t want miss out get on their website now!

5.      Leopallooza is another big festival fitting Falmouth this summer! With the Irish indie rock band Kodaline headlining alongside alternative dance group Crystal Fighters.

6.      This is one for all our locals and students alike! The annual Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival is one for all Cornish lovers with a selection of the finest local bands, local food and of course a lot of cider!

Just a few of the many festivals Cornwall was to offer this summer, so as difficult as it is, try and ignore the cold, damp weather and start planning the warmer months!
