Waking up to a snow day this morning was a wonderful hump-day treat. As you peaked out your window and saw at least seven inches of snow covering the ground you probably thought, “what a perfect opportunity to stay inside all day.”
Ah, not so fast. Fairfield wasn’t letting us off the hook that easily.
After a phone call, text message, and e-mail via StagAlert the D-Town residents were informed they had to move their cars to the Walsh Athletic Center and Prep parking lot in order to complete the snow removal process.
At first this just seemed dreadful. Cars were blockaded in by piles of snow that had turned into walls of ice, and your day of watching Netflix quickly turned into a day of working out. All at once students stepped outside in their pajamas ready to tackle the snow but unsure how to approach it.
It wasn’t before long that students came together to make for a quick, and somehow fun, snow removal. Girls that never held a conversation before were working as a team to shovel cars out. If a shovel wasn’t available then they would get on their hands and knees to scoop out the snow. Then all together, they would help push the car out while the driver reversed.
From one car to the next, students were making sure that everyone was able to get out safely. Fairfield is small and at times even a bit cliquey but, when push comes to shove (literally), you can always count on your fellow stags for a hand.
