This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

Her Campus would not be possible without the wonderful work of our editorial board. Their dedication and hard work is what makes ~Her Campus Fairfield~ the incredible force it is and an excellent organization to be a part of. I sat down with Deputy Editor Anna Mediavilla, senior at Fairfield University, to get the inside scoop on her and her role at Her Campus.

Q: Where are you from?

A: Smithtown, NY (Long Island)

Q: Favorite Color?

A: Yellow

Q: What is your desert island food?

A: Chicken Wings

Q: What is your irrational fear?

A: Horses (they’re enormous!)

Q: If you could master any skill, what would it be, and why?

A: I wish I could sing well because I think it’s a cool thing to just be able to whip out and amaze people

Q: Do you have any special talents?

A: I can fold my tongue in half (she demonstrates, and it is important to note that she can fold her tongue in half hamburger style not the hot dog way like everyone else)

Q: What’s your major or majors, and how did you choose them?

A: English, creative writing, with a minor in Public Relations with a concentration in healthcare. After graduation, I plan on doing an accelerated nursing program. I chose English because I love to read and write, but I realized that the careers associated with the major didn’t really speak to me. Through personal experience, I figured out that I wanted to do nursing, and being able to care for someone was really important to me.

Q: Why did you choose to come to Fairfield?

A: I immediately fell in love with the campus and the opportunities available. Before visiting Fairfield, I also saw the Her Campus website and loved what a unique activity it was. I also love the beach and looking across the sound and seeing home.

Q: Why and when did you join Her Campus?

A: I joined my Freshman year in my first semester here. Before coming here, I knew I wanted to join. I followed Her Campus on Instagram and loved the way the articles were written, how it sounded like you were talking to your best friend.

Q: What is your Her Campus role?

A: My first year I was a writer, my second year I was the Pitches Editor, my third year I was the Style/Beauty Editor, and now I’m the Deputy Editor. I am in charge of pitching and editing the feature articles. I have to submit three article ideas a week to the Editor-In-Chief, and then I am in charge of editing the articles submitted.

Q: What is your favorite Her Campus memory, and why?

A: Walking in the fashion show my sophomore year. I had a lot of fun, I got to meet some of the upper-classmen, and I got a glow-on-the-go spray tan. (I love the spray tans!)

Q: What is your favorite article that you’ve written?

A: I have a few, I really liked writing “Having a crush as told by Chandler Bing” it was so fun to write something relatable and I had a great time searching for gifs of Chandler. I also really enjoyed writing, “What Halloween candy are you based on your Zodiac sign?” I also wrote an article about the Nassar court case that the US gymnasts filed; it was a heavier topic but also felt like it was important to write about it.

Q: How are you feeling so far about your Senior year and graduation?

A: It’s already the best year so far! I’m living on the beach so I have no complaints. I’m trying not to think so much about graduation and just enjoy each day as it comes.

Q: Any advice for underclassmen?

A: You’ll find your place. Your major might change, your friends might change, and that’s not a bad thing, you don’t need to have all the answers yet.

Q: Any closing remarks?

A: I am so happy to be a part of Her Campus and would recommend it for any English, Communications, or Public Relations major, I promise you won’t regret joining!
